practices for leading, yielding, flowing, sensing, and turning tides

saturday october 26 11a-4p brooklyn, ny

About the Workshop

“Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.” – Lao Tzu

Join us in-person at our community house in Ridgewood, NY (on the border of Bushwick, Brooklyn and Queens) on Saturday, October 26th from 11a-4pm for a day-long embodied investigation into the seemingly paradoxical nature of water.

We will explore practices of strength and vulnerability, flowing and yielding, and metabolize personal and collective grief through shared ritual.

“There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water."

-Hopi Elders' Prophecy, 2000

SUPPORT

$200.00

We offer a sliding scale for all of our workshops in service of economic justice. We ask those with access to financial resources and/or access to organizational professional development funds to please consider paying this rate. This practice of solidarity giving enables us to cover costs and to provide financial support to others with less financial resources, thereby building and strengthening our community.

BASE TICKET

$150.00

This rate covers basic costs of producing this event. We invite those with less class privilege or with limited financial resources or recent financial hardships to consider paying our base fee. This enables us to cover basic costs and to provide ongoing community support.

REDUCED SOLIDARITY RATE

$100.00

We invite folks with less class privilege, financial hardship and/or those representing historically marginalized identities for whom the cost to attend is not possible, to register at our subsidized rate.
