Foundations of Stable Care One-Day Intensive

This day-long intensive -- designed for teachers, health care professionals, social workers, parents, activists, and all others interested in caring professions -- offers an introduction to Sustainable Compassion Training (SCT). We will present the science of care and compassion, practice methods for receiving care, extending care, and enhancing self-care, and explore ways of strengthening our compassion practices in daily life. This program will be led by Brooke D. Lavelle and Tenzin Namsel.

In this retreat, John Makransky and Brooke D. Lavelle will introduce Sustainable Compassion Training (SCT), contemplative practices they designed to help us realize a power of care from within that can be deeply healing and sustaining, help us become more fully and compassionately present to ourselves and others, and protect us from burnout and compassion fatigue.
The retreat will consist of progressive guided meditations and exercises, explanation of their functions, and discussion with participants about what their experience these practices raises for them.
